MAC Macrender & Architectural Finishes
MAC, also known as Melbourne Acrylic Coatings, offers Macrender base products alongside preparation materials, textures and decorative coatings. Macrender is a particular render range within MAC; it is not a general description of every acrylic or architectural finish the manufacturer supplies.
Product ranges and their roles
Macrender base products
Macrender is a polymer-modified cement render for stable, porous masonry. Macrender Coarse, Coarse FR and HBS are separate selections. Supaskim, Polylite and Hi-Build also serve particular base or levelling roles.
Primers and patches
Macprime, Pro-Prime, Macprime HP, Macpatch grades, MultiPatch and Dri-Patch address preparation and repair. The existing wall, required depth and compatible finishing system determine the choice.
Textures and architectural finishes
Crystal Plus, Corfu Plus, Sandstone, Sandfinish and trowel textures offer different appearances. Vernazza and Treviso are acrylic-based decorative finishes, while Suede FC is cement-based; a concrete-like appearance does not identify the binder.
Protective and clear coatings
Satin, Satin Flex, Glaze, Glaze LG and Aquashield are distinct protective or finishing selections. Glaze LG provides a low-gloss clear-coat option for compatible MAC textures, subject to the manufacturer’s specification.
Choosing a system for your wall
For a masonry renovation, distinguish the Macrender levelling coat from the final texture and protective finish. Where the aim is a polished or concrete-inspired surface, compare the selected decorative product and sample separately. Similar names in older specifications should be checked against current technical sheets.
